OK Compost

OK Compost is a certification mark that is awarded to products that are compostable in industrial or home composting facilities. It is a voluntary standard that is administered by TÜV Austria. The OK Compost Home label is specifically designed for products that are compostable in home composting facilities. Home composting facilities typically have a lower temperature and a more difficult, slower breakdown process than industrial composting facilities. The OK Compost Home label ensures that products that are certified with this label will break down properly in a home composting environment.

The OK Compost rating system has four levels:
  • OK Compost Home: This is the lowest level of certification and indicates that the product is compostable in home composting systems.
  • OK Compost Industrial: This level of certification indicates that the product is compostable in industrial composting systems.
  • OK Compost Soil: This level of certification indicates that the product is compostable in soil and will not harm plants or animals.
  • OK Compost Home and Industrial: This level of certification indicates that the product is compostable in both home and industrial composting systems.
